CE Mark Testing
Most major electronics manufacturers are concerned with the marketing of consumer, commercial, medical, or light industrial products in the European Union. To sell electronic products in the EU, manufacturers must apply the CE mark, demonstrating conformity with applicable EU directives.
Applicable Directives
The applicable EU directives depend on the product type. For most electronic products the relevant directives include the EMC Directive (2014/30/EU), the Low Voltage Directive (LVD, 2014/35/EU), and for products containing radio transmitters, the Radio Equipment Directive (RED, 2014/53/EU). CTS performs testing to the harmonized standards under each applicable directive.
Radio Equipment Directive (RED)
The Radio Equipment Directive applies to products that intentionally emit or receive radio waves. It covers essential requirements for safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and efficient use of the radio spectrum. Products subject to RED must be tested to the applicable harmonized standards before the CE mark can be applied.
EMC Directive
The EMC Directive applies to electrical and electronic apparatus that may cause electromagnetic disturbance or may be affected by it. Products must comply with emissions limits and immunity requirements. CTS tests to the applicable CISPR and IEC standards under the EMC Directive.
Technical Documentation
CE marking requires a Declaration of Conformity (DoC) and technical documentation demonstrating conformity with applicable directives. CTS prepares complete technical files including test reports, risk assessments, and declarations of conformity for EU market access.
