CISPR 32 / EN 55032
Since March 5, 2017 products entering the EU must comply with EN 55032 (superseding EN 55022). The EU has no grandfathering clause. EN 55013 and EN 55103-1 have transition periods that have now expired. CISPR 32 is the international standard on which EN 55032 is based.
Scope of CISPR 32
CISPR 32 applies to multimedia equipment (MME) — equipment whose primary function is entertainment, educational, or informational, and which contains or is connected to audio/video inputs or outputs. This covers a broad range of products including televisions, audio equipment, computers, and network equipment.
US and EU Combined Testing
Products may need to be tested using both EN 55032 and FCC Part 15 Subpart B methods to satisfy US and EU requirements simultaneously. CTS performs combined testing to both standards in a single engagement where applicable, providing test reports suitable for both FCC SDoC authorization and CE marking under the EMC Directive.
Transition from EN 55022
EN 55032 superseded EN 55022 for information technology equipment. The scope of EN 55032 is broader than EN 55022 and includes multimedia equipment not previously covered. Products previously tested to EN 55022 need to be evaluated against EN 55032 to confirm continued compliance for EU market access.
