UK Conformity Assessment (UKCA) Mark
The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) mark is the UK product safety mark used for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales, and Scotland). It covers most goods that previously required the CE mark and came into effect following the UK's departure from the European Union.
UKCA vs CE Mark
The UKCA mark applies to products sold in Great Britain. The CE mark continues to be required for products sold in Northern Ireland and the EU. Manufacturers selling into both markets may need both marks. The technical requirements for UKCA closely mirror those for CE marking, and in many cases the same test data can support both authorizations.
Applicable UK Regulations
The UK has transposed EU directives into UK law as UK Statutory Instruments. For electronic products the relevant regulations include the UK Radio Equipment Regulations 2017, the UK Electromagnetic Compatibility Regulations 2016, and the UK Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. These closely mirror their EU directive equivalents.
