Voluntary Control Council for Interference (VCCI)
Emissions control in Japan is performed on a voluntary basis, under the supervision of the Voluntary Control Council for Interference (VCCI). The VCCI was formed in December 1985 and establishes technical standards and registration procedures for information technology equipment sold in Japan.
VCCI Requirements
VCCI registration applies to information technology equipment (ITE) sold in Japan. Equipment must be tested to VCCI technical standards, which are based on CISPR 32, and registered with VCCI before the VCCI mark can be applied. Registration requires submission of test reports and product information to VCCI.
VCCI Testing
VCCI testing is based on CISPR 32 / EN 55032 measurement methods. Products that have already been tested to CISPR 32 for EU compliance can often use the same test data for VCCI registration, reducing total certification cost. CTS prepares VCCI-format test reports and supports the registration process.
Class A and Class B
VCCI classifies equipment as Class A (for use in commercial, industrial, or business environments) or Class B (for use in residential environments). Class B limits are more stringent than Class A. The appropriate class is determined by the intended use environment of the equipment.
